Montana State ends the shutout early in the second quarter but we keep cruising as we lead 41-12 at the half.
Belibi highlights the second quarter with a fastbreak dunk as she collects her own block and races down the floor for the easy two points. She is also leading all scorers with 11 points on 4/4 shooting and 6 rebounds.
Lexie is right behind her with 10 points on 5/9 shooting. After a hot impactful start, Brink finishes the first half with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
A telling illustration of how much Montana State is overmatched, the AP 1st Team All American and Pac-12 Player of the Year, Jones has only 2 points and has missed 7 of 8 shots. I also like that when Jones made a silly mistake stepping inbounds before inbounding the ball that Tara pulled her immediately (it helps that we are dominating the game and benching her won't make a difference).
Despite the shutout first quarter and Belibi's dunk, things were not perfect. One thing that Tara will not like is that we already have 9 turnovers. We also started taking a couple more casual shots later in the second quarter and we missed some bunnies too.
I agree, she makes her own degree of difficulty harder when she doesn't have to.
