To be clear on as good as their results say they are, among all Pac-12 linemen slated to play in 2022 (including incoming guys from the transfer portal from other conferences), according to PFF Nugent comes into 2022 as the #8 lineman in the Pac-12 and Rouse comes in as #13.
The Pac-12 had three linemen drafted in 2022, five in 2021, six in 2020, four in 2019, five in 2018, seven in 2017, seven in 2016, five in 2015, four in 2014, five in 2013, eight in 2012, two in 2011, two in 2010, six in 2009, five in 2008, three in 2007, eight in 2006, and six in 2005. That's just over five on average per year. With 2022 being a light OL year for the conference, one would expect 2023 to be an uptick. We have several guys who need to take a step forward but will at least be on radars/have a chance.
Based on past performance/trajectory, essentially our entire offensive line has a chance of being drafted and all will depend on how individuals play this year and/or how long they stay at Stanford. If individuals don't improve on last year's play they will be hard-pressed to be drafted, but year-to-year improvement is normal for linemen and our guys have a chance. Moreover, if they're not quite there after this season they have eligibility to return and improve their stock.
Rouse, Miller, and Hornibrook have two years of eligibility left while Bragg, Nugent, and Hinton have three years of eligibility left. However, it's not clear any of them will complete their eligibility. All but Hinton are "seniors" academically this year and, increasingly, that has come to be viewed as the culmination of one's career at Stanford. Much about Stanford's prospects in 2023 as well as our NFL draft prospects in 2023 and 2024 depends not only on how well these guys play but how long they stick around. One could easily imagine, for instance, good years by any of these guys this season and dominant years next season. My guess, though, is that we get good years by several of them, they try their luck in the draft (which may or may not pay off) and Stanford's OL next year will face a rebuild.
