I gotta say, it's been a couple decades since I've been to a game at Sunken Diamond, and it's just as polite and non-hostile of a ballpark as I remember...although the fabled heckler Larry was not present tonight. Maybe that's what we were missing. My voice is hoarse...I didn't really get loud until later in the game.
Lot of missed opportunities early on (esp in the second inning) that could have made a difference. But those UConn bats were hot tonight, and Alex Williams didn't have the stuff for whatever reason. I wasn't sure about some of the pitching substitutions by the coaches...Cody Jensen was excellent in relief, and I think he should have come in earlier. Hope the pitching staff is ready to make a stand tomorrow.
I actually hadn't planned on going to the game. I'm in the area for unrelated reasons, and it just so happened that I was lucky enough to schedule this and buy actual paper tickets off of someone selling near the box office. Many stars aligned for me; they did not align for the Stanford bats and pitching early in the game. Wish I could have met everyone on the board who was at the game in person.
Do or die tomorrow.
I have been to many games this season and since Esquer has taken over. I have to say that it was packed, which is never the case. You can actually sit in different areas if you want during the season. Yes, it is a non hostile crowd, but why would you want that. Maybe there needs to be a student section near the opponents dugout so stuff like that can be heard.
Miss State is a good environment, they are loud and they are intimidating. I am sure that is the kind of crowd Esquer wants, but you are not going to get that at Stanford. I as sure you have been to a football game. Never going to get a brutal crowd. I believe Larry was needed, but with the amount of crap he was getting last Monday, he probably didn't want to deal. I hope he is there today!
