UConn is in a pretty similar position pitching wise to Stanford. Outside of their Saturday starter Gallagher and Peterson (who is suspended) they have all hands on deck (expect their inning eater who came in the game in the second and did a wonderful job saving the rest of the pen). UConn has gone with Enzo, the Harvard grad transfer, as their number 3 starter all year long. The UConn folks in the know seem to think Coach Penders is going to switch things up and go with freshman Ian Cooke. No matter the order, I expect to see Cooke and Enzo from UConn. Cooke is a freshman with big upside and experience starting and coming in from the pen. Stanford is feasting on fastballs and Enzo basically does not have a fast ball so he might pose some challenges similar to what Stanford ran into in the middle innings yesterday. If the ball is flying we could see 7+ pitchers from each side before this one is over!
It appears UConn has published their lineup and it is indeed Cooke starting on the mound for them. He started their game 7 at Maryland last week.
