I don't think there is such a thing as Stanford's fourth best pitcher.
For most of the season, there were a clear top two pitchers (Williams and Matthews) and a bunch of guys who could be really good or not on any given day.
Bruno has come along great lately, so I might slot him as a clear third best - or second depending on what exactly is happening with Williams. He also probably has the best arm on the staff - in competition with Montgomery.
After that, it's really outing to outing.
Pancer's stuff isn't electric, but he throws strikes and usually doesn't walk guys (despite 5 walks vs. Texas State and UConn). At the moment his WHIP is second on the team (1.19), and ERA fourth (3.26) so maybe he does have a claim to be in the top four.
What are you looking for in Pancer starting?
[He's never gone more than 3 innings this year, so he'd unlikely go a traditional starter's length.]
Thanks for this, CT.
Optimally I am looking for a guy who can start a game and get through an opponent's lineup twice giving up two runs or less. Our starters haven't been doing well. I guess since Pancer hasn't been stretched out he can't go many innings, but maybe he could give us two or three innings to start out a game. I'm trusting Esquer here; just floating an idea since it seems we don't have any reliable starters right now.
