It's been a Bizarro NCAA Tournament all in all. 

The consensus top team, by far, lost in their home super regional. 
Only two top-8 national seeds made the CWS. 
Only two more top-16 teams made the CWS. 
The 4 SEC teams that made the CWS went 2-5 in the SEC tournament. 
All four seeded teams lost their first game at the CWS. 
The top two betting favorites at the CWS were the first two teams out. 
Looks like 3 of 4 first teams out will be among the 4 seeded teams, and the other was the team that knocked off consensus #1. 
There hasn't been a close game yet in the CWS. Stanford losing to Auburn by 4 is tied for the closest game. 

Stanford spent most of the year with two pitchers they could depend on, and a bullpen that was an adventure at best. Stanford spent the tournament with disasters at starting pitcher and really good bullpen work (mostly). In fact, in the CWS it was our two most dependable guys who gave up the most runs (along with Cody Jensen in the ninth inning of game 1 - but at that point they were just going through the motions). 

It's extreme, but it is part of baseball - the sport where the best MLB teams win a little over 60% of their games, the worst a little under 40%.
