Watched some U17 today against Germany. I thought Agara looked out of place in the post and seemed more comfortable on the perimeter. Seems to be a mid-range good jump shooter, though...maybe a solid face-up 4. 

Juju Watkins had a poor shooting night but still so impressive to watch. I was especially pleased to see her energy and effectiveness on the glass and on defense. Not just a scorer.

I watched USA's first game vs Mali right after it became available in youtube two days ago, and AGARA made two from beyond the arc in the first half. So, yes, she can deliverfrom 3-point range. But defensively, she is assigned to guard the other team's big forward.

Agara historically has played more of a SG/W role, but grew a ton, and this U17 has much stronger guards than posts, so I suspect she was picked because she can play any of 2-5 if necessary. The little I watched, see seemed to play a kind of stretch-4 role, though I haven't really seen her looking to shoot from outside much. 

Has anyone else found the play of this U17 team underwhelming so far? Compared to, for example, the Jones/Brink/Belibi/Bueckers/Fudd/Boston/Horston/Cooke group from 2018 (the last time I watched U17), this group feels really lackluster by comparison.

I agree, so far.  That 2018 team is probably the best U17 Worlds team assembled to date.  Despite the presence of BUECKERS and BOSTON who have dominated WCBB these past couple of seasons, I was particularly impressed with HORSTON (who was the tournament's MOP) and FUDD (especially because she just finished her HS freshman season at the time)

But their defensive intensity vs Germany today was simply outstanding.  Their shooting percentage for this qualification phase is what's underwhelming. Hopefully, their shooting improves as they go deeper in the tournament.  

Watch out for PG HIDALGO and SF CHELI, both players of interest for Stanford.

Mackenly Randolph has played well and is likely also a player of interest for Stanford (the Stanford Women's Basketball twitter feed follows her).
