The correct word to use with Kinlaw is skepticism. We don't know how he can play with a properly functioning knee. If Kinlaw had played poorly with a healthy knee for two years, pessimism that he will improve in year three would be warranted. Although, that said, Arik Armstead wan't great shakes his first couple years either. He really didn't come into his own until year 4 or 5, and he's proven better at DT that he didn't play consistently until his 7th season.
Speaking of Armstead, him being out "weeks" means the middle of a donut. He's one of the players on the team who has no reason whatsoever to play in exhibition games. He'll be ready for the season opener which is more than a month away.
