Lance's preseason is playing out perfectly for him to hit the NFL regular season.
First, he is practicing against what may be the best defense in the NFL. The Niner defense is two deep with studs at every position. Lance is getting his baptism of fire NOW when it's utterly meaningless.
Second, Lance opens up against pretty good defenses in pre-season, the Packers (#10) and the Vikings (#15). The third preseason game, when historically the starters play the most, the 49ers play the Texans (#21 last year) in a confidence builder for Lance and...
Third, best yet...the Niners open against the Chicago Bears, last year's worst passing defense. Week 2 of the regular season, it's the Seahawks at #20 passing defense in 2021. Weeks 3 and 4, Lance will face the Broncos and the Rams. They were 2021's 5th and 6th best passing defense in the NFL last year. I suspect he will have progressed enough at that point to play very well.
I think the big story in 2022 will be that Trey Lance is one of the very best quarterbacks in the league. Griese and passing game coordinator Slovik like him:

The game is slowing down for him:

He's coming on fast:
