My reference to the Giants assessment was simply an example of how I only have conviction when I feel good about the information available to me. It is y'all who are patting me on the back by implicitly expressing you believe I made the correct call, not me. 

It's just kind of hard for me to wrap my head around people getting bent out of shape because someone doesn't feel they have enough good information to have a conviction about something.

My SO asks me my opinion on things all the time. Whenever she asks me to say what I think is going to happen with something including sports outcomes, and I don't know, I tell her I have no idea. She says "you must have a leaning one way or the other."  When I say I don't she hates it. I'm too good at being a devil's advocate and arguing both sides when I don't feel conviction, which makes me even less inclined to make a guess. I don't mind being wrong. I just don't see the point of being forced to make a choice when yer basically flipping a coin. It doesn't betray any knowledge or wisdom when correct, and I can be "held responsible" for being wrong when I never thought I had the answer. I don't "write checks my body can't cash," know and am comfortable with my limitations.

AYFKM.  If I know one thing it’s that I ain’t gonna be patting you on the back. You do that enough for all of us.  

 As for “conviction “ relating to the Giants, I guaran flipping tee you that there are several people on this board that know more about the Giants, their current state, history and the way the franchise operates than you.  

Heck, ive been following the team and organization religiously for close to 60 years. I catch about 130- 150 games a year. Admittedly at this stage of my life almost exclusively on TV. Yet, my history etc pales compared to some on this board.

I will admit I get a kick out of “y’all”. Reminds me of how Rick Barry got out of his contract with the Virginia Squires so he could return to the Warriors.
