Frost's buyout gets cut in half (by $7.5M) on October 2nd.

Between now and Oct 2, Nebraska plays North Dakota, Georgia Southern, #9 Oklahoma, and Indiana, all at home. If he goes 4-0, do they fire him? I honestly don't know what Nebraska will do in that event. I guess another question would be when does his buyout go to zero? Is it right after this season or after the start of next season? I have no idea how much the boosters will pony up, but the University itself may be "cost conscious".

No idea, but I will tell you that Indiana is not expected to be that good (nor is Northwestern). Going 3-1 should be table stakes in these next 4. Obviously losses in either of the first 2 would be death sentences, but I'd guess they will win. IMO the real hinge game is Indiana. If they lose to Indiana, and his buyout gets halved the next day, I'd consider that perfect timing for Frost to be tarmac'ed at home.

Sounds reasonable. It wouldn't surprise me if they wait until Oct 2 to fire him having already decided to do so earlier. Doing so if he goes 4-0 might be harder. The 7.5 M is a big deal. It also wouldn't surprise me if they don't fire him until after the season no matter how bad things get. Finding a replacement will be difficult IMHO and the pool of available choices during the season is a void. Frost's staff also doesn't appear to have anybody on it who would be better for the remainder of the season. No painless choices.
