Winning at Cal or Notre Dame are also doable (Cal nearly did it this weekend in South Bend, and arguably should have; different story though winning at night in mid October as opposed to midday mid September).
UCLA also should have lost to South Alabama at home, and is struggling mightily to draw crowds to Rose Bowl.
We’re neither good nor bad enough to be pencilling in any Ws and Ls. We play a lot of average to good teams, but probably no great teams. That means almost every game is Winnable or losable
There exists a universe where the offense is humming, the D improves to average, made to look worse then it was by an elite USC offense, and we win 8-9 games. There exists a universe where the D is awful and offense average and we win 2 games.
That’s why we play the game.
