We did a murder story in the hills above Marysville-Yuba City. Don Hewitt and Morley thought enough of it to lead a season of 60 Minutes with it. We did some hidden camera when nobody was doing anything like it and with a film camera (worked a full day on concealing, sound barney, etc.)! We suspected a sheriff's son of killing a young woman at a crank party. The sheriff and the DA buried some evidence and our research was spot on but circumstantial.

Two young reporters watched the show and picked up the ball. Six months of research and they found enough to force the DA to prosecute. The perp was guilty and is in Folsom today.

So whether Harballs was called off by the Lucks doesn't matter. What does is the speculation and discussion. I'm the last person to be told to back off. I did way too many investigative reports that helped put away a few people to accept that. I know this wasn't a murder or a conspiracy but it did fuel Tonga tailgate debates for years in CTG.
