Shanahan doesn’t need to trade for/or spend a premium (1 or 2) draft choice on an RB. He has had a lot of success with low round/free agent guys. The problem has keeping them healthy…….
He has. That doesn’t mean that someone like CMac wouldn’t significantly improve them. Think of him running option routes out of backfield, lining up in slot isolated on linebackers and hitting the edge on their stretch runs.
It would also alleviate the need for Deebo to play RB. (An injury waiting to happen) Not gonna happen, of course. But it’s something I’ve thought of many a time. Both for CMac and Niners.
Maybe they trade Lance for him….. (Kidding!).
One other factor to consider - his health (IMO, the biggest roadblock to any deal Carolina might propose to any team). He missed 23 of the last 33 games coming into this season due to injuries.
Mostly due to non-contact injuries. Wonder how the turf contributes to that.
