A big IF. I don’t like the deal but I understand the thinking behind it - the 49ers are pushing all their chips to the middle of the table betting they can win it all at some point within this particular window of opportunity.
Except, his injuries were almost exclusively non-contact. He no longer has to play on turf. That should make a difference.
Also, he won’t be on field for 95% of offensive snaps.
Niners time is now. He’s a big weapon and one that fits perfectly into what Niners do. I mean, JG’s best work is over middle short. Line CMac in slot, run those option routes vs linebackers. Plus, it means Deebo will not be as heavily keyed on and won’t play RB much if at all. So, it lessens his risk of injury.
It’s a great move. One that tells the team we are all f-ing in.

Very true. Just ask Elijah Mitchell and Trey Lance. . . .
Different proposition. He started having injury problems after being the field more than any non-quarterback skill position player in the NFL. And he had the ball in his hands a ton. That will not be the case of the 49ers. Which should make a difference. It’s just math. Less plays less risk. And most of his injuries were noncontact variety. With the exception of the shoulder
I learned about this while in line for flight from Munich to SF. Couple guys behind me decked out head to toe in Niners gear. Both Germans. Going to the game and just staying weekend. Now THAT is dedication.
