There aren't other things to do during the day in Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Ohio...etc.?
Even in other conferences if you look in the upper decks of the mid-tier teams you will see that those Noon and 1PM EDT kicks have empty seats even in VA, PA, NC, etc.
The daytime trend is not as significant as the west coast apathy for spectator sports (see A's, Lakers, Chargers, Pac-12, and more) but it is something you can observe in other conferences.
I don't think Stanford would get a lot of walk up ticket revenue even if the kick was at 5 or 6PM, so happy to have the game time that works best for the players. And I think for a home game the 12:30PM start time works well for the Stanford student athletes, and I am confident their friends and family not in the stands have access to the Pac-12 Nets.
