Ron Fimrite and Art Rosenbaum defined Bay Area sports coverage, especially college. Still have a clipping of the '71 Rose Bowl story under Rosenbaum's by-line. And I grew up reading Bob Stevens' baseball stories. On other pages I chuckled at Art Hoppe's satire and Charles McCabe's sour-ass commentaries. And a lot of people still don't know that Glenn Dickey openly campaigned for Stanford to hire Bill Walsh after Jack Christiansen was let go. Good paper, good years.
