No turtling allowed.
I think you are probably close to the UCLA score. They scored 30 on Oregon, which certainly has a more solid defense than Stanford; and those 30 points represent the lowest scoring output for the Bruins this season. Yes, our defense is improved; but I say the Bruins get at least 35 on us, possibly more (depending upon how effective DTR is on the day).
Your rose-colored glasses seem more apparent in the 33 point scoring output you predict for the Cardinal. Take the Colgate game out of the picture, and we are averaging 22.5 points per game with a clear downward trend. Plus, that average has some garbage-time TDs (Oregon, USC) to make things look better. I will be optimistic in my own way and predict that Stanford has 4 scoring drives, two which end in Karty FGs and the other two in TDs. That's 20 points.
So Bruins win 35-20, which would still be a win ATS.
The only hope I see for this game is if DTR has an error-prone performance and coughs up the ball, say, 3 times (two INTs and a fumble). Couple that with a defense that plays out of their minds and helps our offense out with a pick-6, and maybe, just maybe, Stanford prevails 27-24. I mean, you can dream, right. But I'm going with the wide-awake scenario.
Then there's the nightmare scenario: 45-10 Bruins.
I don't think we have Filkins...
PA Field Goal Experts: 16
UCLA Touchdowners:. 42
I don't see how we can run much on Bruins,
so they unload the blitz on McKee.
I would put an extra Tight End in the backfield to block.
Rely on the WRs to go up and get the ball, and take the quick slants. Like last week, McKee will need to throw more than 50 passes.
We need 3 Turnovers to be in this one, as with NDAM giving us 2 fumbles.
Without some INTs, the Bruins will move at will in our Defense. Need to see >3 punts by UCLA before the half to be in this game.
