And no “crystal balls” from the media.
I really don't think anyone has any inside at least that's been reported. Men's college basketball recruiting is a lot better at crystal ball predictions.
I don't think Watkins goes to SC (she is on record saying playing close to home is important to her) so USC or Stanford seem to make more sense. IMO, we make the most sense if she really wants to win a national championship. USC has only one 2023 commit. They only signed one recruit in last years 2022 recruiting cycle. Here's a tweet from an LA times reporter today.

It's almost like Hidalgo is waiting to see if Watkins picks Stanford before she announces herself. It could also just be a coincidence with regard to timing. It seems unlikely we'd got both recruits. I hope we at least get one though!
I agree that I think it's down to USC and Stanford, and think her being from Watts/Compton is a storyline for staying in Southern California, IE that tweet that the buzz is building, I can see that.
I think Duke is the biggest threat for Hidalgo, especially with the class they have coming in.
And you know, with the depth we have and what we saw from Lepolo and Nivar, I'm not too worried if we don't get these two recruits, we have a ton of talent returning next year and in the future.
