How many miles a car will "last" and how long it will really be driven are two different things....

Man, no kidding. I've owned a dozen cars or so, and the one that lasted the longest -- despite the recalls and assorted problems -- was my first brand new car, a Ford Tempo. I drove it 160k miles and sold it -- and the guy I sold it to called me after eight months and told me it had just passed 170k with no problems and on the original gas engine. I did go through four starter motors; otherwise, it was a peach of a car.
