Over the years I’m sure other football players have also transferred before getting a degree. One I recall is Padric Scott.

From what I heard, Padric was a true Renaissance man and football was just one of the many things he wanted to do at Stanford. When his coaches wanted him to spend more time on football and less on other pursuits, he rebelled. Plus the fact he got a little homesick for Tallahassee. He sort of fits the profile of "smart kids who happen to play football".
