No, insulting the intelligence of the reporters assembled to hear him speak in the wee hours of the morning, by claiming the decision was "totally my own" and bristling at the suggestion from a reporter that there "was a final straw" while also claiming totally transparency, is crazy.
Shaw even threw in there that "2 weeks ago I wasn't thinking this" yet a week later, he claims to have just on his own concluded "it was time" to step down? Something triggered him, and if he got a buyout, it was his employer. But Shaw could not bring himself to even say "it was a mutual decision between me and the university," let alone say what triggered the decision - which would clarify the buyout situation - when asked.
How is it so hard to say the decision was mutual? Is David Shaw so proud that he can't admit he was asked to leave?
