Where does this focus on a Big 10 invite come from.  It is not happening anytime soon and would remove a positive differentiator for Stanford.  5 of the top 16 ranked teams are currently in the PAC-12 and 4 of them will be in the new PAC-10.

It's just a question. There has to be multiple factors driving Stanford's decision to move on from David Shaw. Stanford has to care a lot more about football than the majority of people reading this board have presumed. I'm just trying to understand what football brings to Stanford that the brass values and doesn't feel Shaw can any longer deliver as Head Football Coach.
