Do we know that the head coaching budget is $9 million?  Shaw was being paid $6 million a year, which was tops in the PAC-12 until Lincoln Reily was brought in for a gazillion dollars.  More importantly, with the PAC-12’s deteriorating revenue situation, I’m not sure we can afford $9 million (or even $6 million, for that matter), unless we identify exterior sources (ie wealthy alums) willing to foot the bill.

If Justin Wilcox goes elsewhere, I would strongly recommend Coach Frost as his replacement...

For better or worse, Wilcox's 25 M dollar buyout is going to keep him at Cal next year and probably the year after. After that, maybe they can raise the money to get a replacement.
