Thanks msqueri for your thoughts. Agree on almost everything. I think it's been almost a little over the top how effusive and falling over themselves everyone is with praise. But as you said, this transition seems very smooth and totally beats the alternative.

I really really hope Muir does not pick a "continuity candidate" like Pritchard or Anderson. I will not go to a game if they are named head coach. I don't think Hamilton or Bloomgren are necessarily bad options if they hire the right staff though. Still rooting for Chris Petersen.

The "coach" vs "David" salutation is an interesting debate. I've heard people mock others for calling the coach "coach" with a retort like, why are you calling him coach? He's not your coach. I wouldn't consider a head football coach in the same category as senators, ambassadors, generals, etc. 

I thought the fact that search firms were calling Muir at 4 AM was a bad thing. Muir knew two days prior to Saturday that Shaw was going to step down. I think he should have immediately started a search when it became official. Also the Stanford search committee to help find a new coach sounds unnecessarily bureaucratic. 

I don't begrudge any graduating seniors for grad transferring. They put in their four years, best of luck at your next place. Not unheard of for a player to enter the transfer portal then change their mind though.
