I’m curious why folks think Roman would be a good choice.  He’s been in NFL for 10 years now.  No one has thought highly enough of him to offer an HC job.  He’s had a nice offense - as long as he had Colin Kaepernick  before teams figured him out and Lamar Jackson, who is a Unicorn.  

Besides those still pining away for Harbaugh thinking he’s the closest thing to JH (which there is no reason to believe)  I really don’t see why he’s an ”exciting “ possibility. Although, I do like his run first philosophy and the creativity he shows in the running game. But it’s dependent on a dynamic QB that is a tremendous runner. 

I’d like to here supporters weigh in.  Tell me why I’m wrong. Besides the obvious answer that I usually am……

Nobody knows who'd be good or bad or else they'd be leading the committee. While Roman doesn't give me goosebumps, my openness to his candidacy is rooted in the fact that he's had relatively consistent success. Harbaugh loved him enough to make him his OC in the NFL despite not technically being that at Stanford.

He was fired from the Bills in 2016 after leading the NFL in rushing in 2015. Of course, this is the Tyrod Taylor era Bills and they still managed 8-8 in 2015. He's had great success in Baltimore, despite the fans not being incredibly taken to him. Almost seems like a third Harbaugh brother.

He's coached under both Harbaughs and Rex Ryan in case a hit-em-in-the-teeth philosophy was in doubt.

More than anything, if you're looking for contrarian realize that he was the architect of the jumbo and super jumbo running packages. Harbaugh originally used more of a pro-style offense and Roman is the one responsible for what we now think of as that era's offensive signature rushing attack.

Personality-wise, it's hard to think he'd capture imaginations. But that isn't always required...Shaw came off as either cool or bland and recruited pretty well.

One thing that I think is interesting is that he's had some flirtations with HC positions before (including Stanford), but hasn't gotten a job. So he could be significantly hungrier for the opportunity than your typical 59 year old hire.

I still want Ulbrich.
