I don't know if this was linked previously, but Kevin Borba at SI quotes Brandon Huffman as saying Stanford is the best job opening in college football right now.

Borba also gives grades what he thinks are the top 10 candidates:

He rates Troy Taylor an A, Greg Roman a C+.

Let's be honest and admit that Stanford is hands-down problematic for the best of the best coaches. For reasons we all know too well. Nowhere near the fan pressure as the bluebloods but the new territory is utterly alien to everything that Stanford has always identified with. The street-wisest, football-guru, shrewdest candidates know this. This is fraught. Making things worse? Bernard Muir. No big-time hiring chops whatsoever. No football gene. As brilliant as he may be in some things, he strikes me as a wandering stranger in a strange land right now. Like a chiropractor checking a dental encyclopedia as he's doing your root canal. Just my opinion, of course. No better than anyone else's. But I still don't envision a stampede of studs itching to sign up for this gig. Four or five years ago, maybe. And even then it woulda been tough. Admit it.
