Josh Johnson's 36 and this is his fourth stint with the 49ers, the others being 2012, 2014 and 2020. He's had time with 14 different teams in his 13-year history, a record. He's played in the UFL, XFL, NFL, and the AAF. He played for Harbaugh at U of San Diego. He was a 5th round pick of Tampa Bay in 2008 (despite his school, he had the best 40 and vertical of any QB), but has nine career starts (record, 1-8) for the Ravens, Washington and Tampa Bay. He spent 4 years in a row with TB. His career rating is 70.7 (ugh) but last year's NFL rating was 99.0 in 8 games, completing 57 of 85 passes for 638 yards, 5 TDs and 2 INTs. He went to Oakland Tech HS.
I thought Brock Purdy did very well, particularly since he didn't have great protection and since he's only had mop-up duty against the Chiefs. After the game, Fred Warner said (paraphrased) that he wasn't surprised that Purdy played so well since he'd been playing against the NFL's best defense in practice for the last 13 weeks. And that is a backup's job, to mimic the opponent's offense against the 1st team defense in practice.
Purdy's passer rating was 88.8. His interception was the equivalent of a punt, coming on a deep pass on 4th down. His rating otherwise would have been 100.1.
