Iowa State got out to a 28-23 halftime lead over Caitlin Clark and Iowa. But Iowa had a 27-8 3rd quarter and is coasting to victory in the 4th. They will be moving up in the polls.
All that said, his decisions have obviously been the correct ones most of the time, given his overwhelming success. Keeping the team small and feeding the elite starters all the minutes has generally worked. But once in a blue moon it backfires, and this seems to be the blue moon year for UConn.

What I am saying is that UConn's current problems are not entirely a matter of bad luck. Geno has chosen not to have 15 players on the roster. He has chosen not to widely distribute minutes of game time. This produces a bigger drop off that would otherwise be the case when the team suffers a rash of injuries.
