It seems to me like the leak of the two finalists by "sources" could be driven by Muir himself.  He might want to gauge the reaction and/or make the winner look like he emerged from a horse race with many viable candidates.  This leak strikes me as intentional.

I don't know if it indicates Garrett or Taylor.  If you were selecting Taylor, a relative unknown, you'd want him to appear like he beat out some big names.  On the other hand, it might be difficult to select Taylor after dangling a splashier name like Garrett.  Hard to say.
