These coaching searches in the age of social media are always interesting. So much speculation, but no one really knows what is going on behind the curtain. I don't really understand why anyone is livid that Jason Garrett didn't get the job or tweeted that he is happy to stay at NBC. Of course someone had to screw up, right? I know less than anyone else on this board, but it could be as simple as Muir evaluated X candidates, possibly whittled them down to three finalists, talked to each of them in more depth (and that can't happen simultaneously), then let the two also-rans know. One would hope they wouldn't say anything to the world, but maybe Garrett had told all his friends, like Michelle Tafoya, he was going after the job, they publicly supported him, and he felt he needed to say something to save face, or just say something. His tweet was fine and respectful. How does anyone know he was lowballed? Stanford could pay half of what they were paying Shaw and it would still be a mid-tier salary.
Sounds like I am in the minority, but of the three purported finalists, Taylor, Brennan, and Garrett, Garrett was a solid #3. He has as much college coaching experience as I do.
Coach selected - presser early next week suggests Taylor or No One Saw That Coming. If it is Taylor, I feel bad for the Hornets. They are in a real postseason (unlike non-CFP bowl teams) and however this goes down, I hope they aren't left wondering "what if" their post season wasn't nuked by disruption. I get that it always happens and it is worse with the early signing date and portal, but it still sucks. Normally I would root for Incarnate Word because of the name (and they are plural Cardinals to boot), but I hope the Hornets TCOB and win it all.
