Not directed at you. But why should we care if he got fired at Utah (unless it was for being abusive or some other non- football sin. And there is no evidence of that). Coaches get fired. It’s part of the job. What he did at Utah is irrelevant. Frankly, given his offensive philosophy and Whittingham’s philosophy, it seems like a strange hire anyway.
Personally, I think we should care because it’s evidence that he wasn’t very good in the one opportunity he’s had to run an offense at this level. Maybe Whit shares some of the blame but there’s no other evidence anyone can point to that he’s capable of succeeding at this level as a coordinator, much less as a HC. Saying he wasn’t abusive is a very low bar in terms of expectations for a new HC.
Yes, Harbaugh hadn’t had success at this level prior to his hire either and he’s kind of a jerk, too. I recognize those points but Harbaugh was one in a million. There’s only one Jim Harbaugh and Troy Taylor ain’t him. Not to mention that Taylor is already 54 years old. If he was the next coming of Harbaugh, his greatness would’ve already been discovered.
