And to be clear, whispers may be all we have and they may be correct. But if you're going to say that's what happened I want to know the basis for it.
I think this article, which is pretty favorable to Taylor, makes it clear what the story was. While the article asserts that if "Taylor had not left of his own accord" his contract would have been honored, the article makes it abundantly clear that the OL coach had been elevated to at least co-OC and had the head coach's confidence, which Taylor did not. He was functionally demoted. He acted accordingly and found another job. That was probably the intent of the demotion. Both parties handled the departure in the best way possible, which was good. However, there must have been a big disconnect between what Taylor expected when he took the job and what he was actually allowed to do.
