Regardless of how this season plays out, next year:

Since Garappolo is no longer under contract, shake hands and wish him well.

If Purdy keeps playing like a boss don’t see why we wouldn’t at least have it be a competition in camp. Trey hasn’t shown us enough to be a guaranteed starter, sunk cost notwithstanding. In a vacuum you want Trey to seize the job since he may have the higher ceiling but if Brock wins a Super Bowl you can’t just not give him a shot.
