OF is like an easy to read road map. Just exactly as I suspected.

Lex sounds like he was cheated on, with all due respect.

The Giants need to invest the 330 million in player development. Real actual development. And scouting. Hire a hundred more scouts. Find the gems that others miss. Just like Branch Rickey.

Use part of that money to convince high roller Japanese American investors and politicians to put a full court press on Ohtani.

You can sit back and do nothing, you can don a hair shirt and bemoan your fate or you can say “enough” and have the balls to move forward.

As a fan, I do feel cheated.  . Giants said they were going to be players in this market. Instead they were clowns.  Got used by Judge. And now this.

Investing in player development and signing major free agents are not mutually exclusive.  You know that.  Giants front office is risk averse in the extreme.  They balked. Correa walked.

Ohtani ain’t coming to SF. Dodgers are clearing the decks to bring him on. And they actually close deals.

I only want attackers in my foxhole. Me room for crybabies. I’d sign Mick’s Duvall and Will Meyers to play first. I would forget about Doubla A for Luciano and keep him at Sacto for a full year. I’d bail on Ramos and bet on Pomares who had a great last six weeks in the minors.

First, I'll agree, but then (sorry) I'm going to disagree with both of you in this tulipmania market.

Agreed, we missed on Judge. He used us to get a higher offer from the Yankees, and that's fine. I didn't think then, and I still don't think he'll be a great mid-term or long-term play, not the way Ohtani will be.  I think the Yankees will get two great years out of Judge, two good years and the rest will be mediocre or worse.

Agreed, we missed on Correa, but frankly...even before the medical failure announcement, I was concerned about his health. 7 times on the IR in 8 years, most for back issues? Knee and thumb issues? That dude is used up. And Cohen/Mets have gone to $400 mms. payroll to sign him when the tax level is $233 mms.?  I don't think the value was there for Correa, not for a guy who played in 85% of his team's games exactly once since his rookie year.  Frankly, I think it says something that Correa took $35 million less to play for the Mets.  By signing with the Mets, Correa knows he won't measure up physically, in the same way that Pablo Sandoval knew he would eat everything in sight and tank big time when he joined the Red Sox and wouldn't sign an SFG contract with a weight gain clause.

The Giants signed four of the top 50 free agents, otherwise. The rest of the division combined signed two.

Now the Giants have to find value in the trade market. I have confidence that they will do so. Yeah, I know they won 81 games with demonstrably the worst defense in baseball -- and 107 games the year before, which everyone has conveniently forgotten.  I think the shift rule changes and the new FA's will put them in the low 90 win category.

Boegarts is worth more than the 4 the Giants  signed. Plus Padres have just a tad more talent. Dodgers are clearing the decks for Ohtani. And btw, their farm system is significantly better than the Giants.

21 is IRRELEVANT.  That was Posey. With assists from Crawford and Belt having their best years. None of that remains.  Which is why ‘22 was foreseeable. I said it in March.

This team is worse.  75 wins.  Maybe.  Unless something major trade wise happens.

The lineup sucks.  They are old.  Slow.  And they lost their ace. Stripling and Maenea don’t equal Rodon.

Cohen doesn’t care what luxury tax penalty he has to pay.  Man, I wish the Giants had that attitude.
