I remain amazed that Haase is still the coach.   This team has more talent than most Stanford teams over the last seventy years, and yet they are unable to compete with teams in our conference.   Given Haase's MO of starting games and seasons strong and fading at the end I really can't imagine 2022-2023 will end well.  And maybe that is for the best.

Maybe Muir is a bit too slow to fire, but Haase's abilities don't stop there.  Commentators endlessly praise Haase, his insights, his skills, and more.  Recruits seem to fall under his spell too.

As I have never met Haase apparently I am not under that spell.   Haase must be a great individual, but we now have ample evidence that he is not a great basketball coach for Stanford University.

Perhaps he should be Muir's replacement given his persuasion abilities.  Fire Muir, promote Haase to AD, and then let Haase use his great skills to persuade a decent basketball coach to take his old role.

Note that this year's team has a dismal 5-8 record. And the preseason schedule wasn't that daunting. If it is really true that Haase hasn't taught his players how to screen (and made it integral to his game strategy) so that the best trey shooters have open shots, that is truly abysmal. Like many I long for the days of Monty and players like Kirschoffer, the Lopez Brothers, the Collins Brothers, Casey, Mad Dog, Art Lee, Tony Giovachini, Childress, Nick Robinson, Matt Lottich, etc.
