I mean, it sounds like they funded the positions for more mental health professionals. I’d assume that MTL is not the hiring manager (or even Drell, for that matter).  There’s a nationwide shortage of mental health professionals, so the fact that we have had trouble filling the position is not surprising, and probably not really MTL’s fault.

I agree on the lack of hiring not being the Prez's fault.  But there are plenty of other solutions besides hiring new therapists--contract with local providers, give students access to telehealth providers, etc.  A university as rich as Stanford should not have any problem finding solutions to this problem.

A university administration that was committed to improving access to mental health treatment would come up with other ways.  The fact that we haven't is ultimately MTL's fault.
