Shaw's not the football coach now.   He WAS Pac-12 COY multiple times, won 3 conference titles, and 2 Rose Bowls.   Years 9-12 were not exactly great, but he is an alum, was a key contributor in the JH years too, and is Stanford's winningest coach.  Given the structure of college football and the NFL it is very unlikely any other coach will win 3 conference titles as a Stanford coach in my lifetime.   I can only hope that Stanford finds a football coach that beats Shaw's accomplishments, but with NFL head coach compensation quickly approaching $20 million per year, I have my doubts.

Moving back to Haase...
Haase has nothing close to the type accomplishments one should expect for a hoops coach in year 2 or year 3, and Haase is still here in year 7.   Worse, the trend is definitely negative as his "best" year was near the start of his tenure.

Tonight's game end exemplified the recent Haase era.   An ultra-talented player made an amazing individual play to allow Stanford to keep possession of the ball with 2.7 seconds to play.   That's plenty of time to run a decent play and get a quality shot.   However under Haase the play initiated with something that was rather static and then that player heaved the ball towards the rim.   The shot attempt was so bad and so early that Stanford almost had a 1983 NC State-like finish, but Haase's teams are never that lucky.

Is it possible that Haase could take a different program to the Elite Eight in the future?  Maybe, but Haase at Stanford is just not working out.   No need to bring in Shaw, Harbaugh, Monty, Johnson, VanDerveer or others into this one.   Haase has had ample time to prove his value, and it is simply time to move on.

Haase must be a great guy to have avoided termination years ago, and I hope he has success at his next role.   
As for Stanford, it is time for him to announce this is his last year so we can avoid a USC like tarmac situation.
