Time for the defense to have a performance worthy of the NFLs no 1 defense. Cowboys present problems with their balance. Pollard and Elliott are an excellent 1-2 punch. Prescott is very good. He’s got a strong arm, is accurate and he’s an underrated runner. The latter being a big concern - Niners struggle with running QBs. Lamb is a top receiver. Schultz a very underrated TE. This is an excellent offense.
Niners have not had a great 60 minute defense effort in a while. They will need it to win Sunday. Cause I don’t see the Niners winning a shootout. Bosa was bottled up by Seattle. He’s playing on same field as Parsons. Extra motivation. For both of them. Bosa needs to have a big game.
This will be, by far, Purdys biggest test. (It gets old saying that week in week out. But I actually think it’s true this week. Because of the quality of the defense). Cowboys have a strong pass rush, led by the only defensive player in the conversation with Bosa for DPOY. Purdy is going to have to get the ball out. I don’t see him beating Parsons and Co by scrambling. Dallas is also opportunistic defensively. They force a lot of turnovers.
To win, Niners need to run effectively and shut down Dallas running game. That and avoid giving up big pass plays. And of course be at least equal on turnovers.
When both teams play their best game, Niners are better. But this is close on paper. Very close.
