I don't think UCLA is as tough a matchup as U$C for us. The condoms have bigs to clog the paint and dare us to shoot from outside the paint. In contrast, the Polar Bears are more guard oriented. 

We'll be able to score on them in the paint. We'll need to defend their guards well enough to not offset our inside advantage.

Astute remarks.  I agree.  The question is, who among our bigs can defend guards.  What will the matchups be?  I don't remember how we defended them last time, but it worked fairly well.  Maybe this:

Brink on Bessoir  Advantage Brink.  She can move well enough to defend on the perimeter or inside on Bessoir.

Iriafen on 5'11" Kiki Rice?  This is an awkward matchup.  Iriafen is athletic enough, but Rice is probably quicker.  We handled her last time though. 

Jones on 5'11" Gina Conti?   Conti is a so-so offensive threat, shooting only 32%.

Jump on 5'11" Camryn Brown  Brown is not much of an offensive threat, few three point shots, only a handful of points a game.

Lepolo on 5'9" Charisma Osborne.  Tough assignment.  Lepolo gives up a couple of inches and a couple of years experience.

Now what if they bring in Londynn Jones in place of Brown or Conti?  I'm not sure who could defend her.  I wonder about Nivar.   My guess is that Close would start Jones alongside Osborne and Rice if it were not for her defense.  Sure she scores lots of buckets, but her diminutive size means the other side can score on her, too.

What if we wanted to play twin towers with Betts and Brink? Great on the offensive end, but who the heck does Betts defend?  I don't think UCLA has anyone that is the right kind of player for Betts to defend.  But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Close had her team driving to the basket in desperation to overcome our lead when we played UCLA at Pauley. That resulted in a grand block party for our women, and Brink had a field day! They kept coming in for more and Cam kept swatting them away! Close is unlikely to try that again, I would expect, if the game came down to it, that we would see more threes and screened mid-range shots.
Offensively, as you will recall, this was the game that Agnes saved our bacon. Tara might feel that she matches up well against UCLA players and use her, in spite of her inconsistency in other games.
