The refs let Ucla get away with a lot of fouls, although we got away with a few ourselves. But I think Ucla got away with more. I don't mind letting them go in regard to bifed bsnging in rebounding or ticky tack fouls. But hitting s shooter needs to alway be called. But really what frustrates me the most are the refs allowing illegal screens. Ucla was illegally screening virtually every possession, sometimes 2 on possessions. Refs need to call those and enfoce the rule or stop ever caling them,
Speaking of hitting the shooter, that play they reviewed where Cam accidentally hit her defender in the face? That player was draped ALL OVER Cam on the shot, and then the ball went off UCLA. To me that’s the only reason her face was in position to catch Cam’s elbow. So the refs blew two calls on that play.
That’s actually not the first time Bessoir has stuck her nose into a post players’ elbow and initiated a review. She is either a very unlucky young lady or it’s apart of UCLA’s flopping strategy and exaggerating contact. Cori had Charisma play on a torn meniscus for a WNIT bid last year and I am sure she instructed Bessoir to get hit in the face for a win. Sometimes it works (PAC-12 tourney 2021) and sometimes it doesn’t. One of the many reasons why I am so pro-NIL. College coaches sacrifice players all the time and don’t lose any sleep.
