First, let me say that, as awful as the offensive performance was, I'm happy for the victory.
But, I will admit, that part of me was thinking about the possible silver-lining of a loss: possibly, finally, a change at QB. I'm convinced it will probably take an actual loss to a terrible team to force Shaw to make a change, or at least to start giving significant reps to either Hogan or Nottingham during the week. Any decent team we lose to, Shaw will just be able to say, "well, they are a great D," and for each narrow victory over a doormat, Shaw will be able to say "yes, we have to get better, but all the problems are correctable." Meanwhile, valuable game and practice time for other QBs is lost, again.Â
Glad we won, glad we are bowl eligible, etc. But, afraid we are doomed to another week of this. We'll probably beat Colorado (but after today's performance, can anyone really predict that with certainty?), which would mean more of the same as we head into OSU, UO, and UCLA. Maybe our defense can pull out one of those.
