Haley was great in the first half, not so much in the second. I especially didn't like the late possession where she dribbled out most of the shot clock and then gave it to Cam who could only drive to the basket and get stopped.
Again Haley continues to log an unnecessary amount of minutes and that is reflected in her poor shooting stats this year. When you are rested, you can overcome most deficits in the 4th. When you are tired, it’s difficult to hold on to any lead. There was plenty of time to rest her when they were up 16 pts. Tara refuses to do so. Haley didn’t block out Sontag on Brink’s rebound. Haley’s shots were flat and short. Haley couldn’t grab the rebound on Rice’s miss, but also Brooke should have never been in the first position on the free throw line if you are desperate for a miss and to secure a rebound. So I will lay this at the feet of the coaches.
I always thought Stanford was damn lucky in 2021 when Haley got in foul trouble and sat most of the 2nd quarter vs S. Carolina and Arizona because who had legs in the 4th quarter to secure 1pt wins in each? Now, not even foul trouble will allow Haley to sit and rest anymore.
And ALSO this is Hannah’s second scoreless game vs UCLA? At least last time at Maples, she rebounded and got a few turnovers.
And Tara was still running plays for her in the 4th that had no secondary option? Blame the coaches not the refs. 16 pt lead that could have been stretched to 20 many times? Here comes a sub.
