Highest seed defeated: 10
Upsets lost: 8 seed USC lost to 9 seed South Dakota State in OT (SD State had a similar NET ranking to USC, 34 vs USC's 31 so not a big upset)
Upsets won: 0 (no lower-seed matchups)
Notes: 1) Stanford wins by 43 without Brink, 2) Utah scores over 100 and Pili has a career high 33 points AND a career high 8 assists, and 3) Arizona easily defeats the Big 12's #5 team and Kate Reese goes off for 25 points.  Would've been nice if USC had won, but the teams did about as I expected on the first day.  Not much respect for the Pac 12 at ESPN though.  Their pundants didn't even mention Stanford at all in their day 1 wrap up article and then went on to predict both 5-seeds Washington State and 6-seed Colorado will lose today: ESPN Wrap - Day 1 We'll see.

Notes: Easy wins for Iowa and MD as expected. Michigan had a surprisingly easy time with UNLV.  TBD how good the BIG 10 is (though McKenzie Holmes is apparently injured and day-to-day for Indiana)

Notes: The Big East's #3 and #5 teams both lose.  After big success last tournament, the Big East seems to be regressing to the mean.  That probably doesn't tell us much either way about UConn, but it makes Villanova's lofty #10 ranking in the AP Poll questionable.  We'll see how Villanova looks today. (A less-vaunted Villanova would be good news for Washington St., provided they get past FGCU today.)

Notes: I didn't have a clear take on the ACC. They had been beating up on each other and I couldn't tell if it were because they had a lot of great teams or not.  Not a good start for them.  NC St and Florida St. were both upset, VA Tech's win was lackluster, Notre Dame won easily vs a 14 seed but is without Olivia Miles for the tournament.
