Is he better than Bryce, who seemed to be a pretty hyped recruit (for his speed) but hasn't done much for Stanford of note?

This is a fascinating commitment, because it is the brother of a current player who has seen nothing but program deterioration since he signed. One wonders if Shaw was still the HC if Chase Farrell would have committed to Stanford? And if not, what is Troy Taylor bringing to the table that has resonated?  

Or is this a case of just liking Stanford and wanted to go where bro went, and would have committed to Stanford even with Shaw as HC?

If it is the former, you'd think more players would be buying what Taylor is selling.  Speaking of this, do any of you know what Stanford's recruiting pitch is like with Taylor and how it might be different than Shaw and co's?

Chase was not offered by Shaw; he was offered in February by Taylor. Thus, the hypothetical is moot.

We have no idea if Bryce is good or not because WRs were extremely hindered by Shawfense and Wilson/Higgins/Tremayne were all older and better. We will see him this fall, and he actually redshirted this season so he theoretically has 3 more years of eligibility if he wants them all.

The recruiting pitch is all about "changing the culture" and - at least on the offense - bringing electricity to that side of the ball. It seems to be resonating. Bryce is currently in the middle of this culture change, and I'm sure he has weighed in on whether it's genuinely happening (hint: it is).
