Can we now dispense with the "Giants aren't making any money because they aren't drawing due to losing, so they will be ready to spend big in free agency" nonsense? The A's are Top 5 in operating income and NOBODY goes to their games.

The Giants sure are looking like a team that is happy to lose in exchange for maximizing their profits. They are being run to make money, not win. No Top 10 most valuable franchise should be worried about making money, because the real value is in the equity.  PLEASE, Giants owners, sell to Joe Lacob and take your profits!!!

Kinda hard to spend your money when no one wants to take it (see Judge) or unforeseen issues occur (see Correa). 

I will grant the Correa thing was a really weird situation. Aside from that, isn't it up to the Giants to make their money worth taking? 

It smelled really fishy when someone planted the "San Francisco is too liberal" story last year, almost excusing the Giants for failing to attract top free agent talent because of where they play.

It's up to the Giants to figure out what the market wants and adapt accordingly. If you aren't producing what that talent wants, change the people who are responsible for offering it.  Maybe you way overpay vs. everyone else on a big name, to demonstrate to other big names you can land peer players.  Maybe you have a farm system producing talent that lends credence to the idea you can compete in a division with he Dodgers and Padres. Maybe you need to get a better S&C program. whatever it is, the Giants have to figure it out or they will continue having their money refused by the best free agents. Again, Correa was an anomaly, so maybe the Giants in fact were on the precipice of breaking through, but you know what we say about close, horseshoes and grenades.
