Hate to say it, but I really like his answers and thinking, especially the fact he judges the health of the franchise by how strong the farm system is.
Of course, the Giants are now ranked #17, in that department, with the Dodgers #2, D-Backs #3, and Rockies #14. The Padres have depleted theirs and are #23, but their MLB team has 5 of the Top 100 players in MLB and more talent than the Giants have by far.
The Top 30 organization prospects the Giants do have seem to be older than they are in most other systems. I don't know if this means the older players are just better, or the younger prospects aren't good enough. Whatever the case, for every dollar spent on free agents, I'd like the Giants to spend 50 cents on prospect development, knowing the ROI for prospect development is greater than it is for free agent signings, unless you are winning the top of the class the Giants have not been able to land.
