Catchers are always hard to find. Plus Bailey is a switch hitter who is significantly stronger hitting from the left side. So there was/is always possibility of a platoon. Unfortunately, Bailey hasn’t developed as well as theyd like to this point. Although much of that is that he has been absolutely awful hitting right handed. To the point where I hope they just end his switch-hitting. (Interestingly, my understanding is the right side is his natural side). The Giants did that with JT Snow and it made a difference. 

I remember seeing Bailey's college stats and thinking in my John McEnroe inner voice "You cannot be serious. This guy can't hit, shouldn't be a first round pick, and we already have Joey Bart." I realize they took Bailey because he was more like a 3rd/4th pick, who agreed to sign for much less money.

And you're right...Bailey's literally twice as good a hitter as a lefty (.252/.370/.481/.851) as he is a righty (.133/.243/.217/.460) or at least he was in 20225

I don’t think the Giants have handled Bart very well. My guess is that if Sanchez shows that he’s ready he’ll take over the starting catching chores with Perez backing him up. 60-40 if you will. Bart has an option left so they can send him down. But at that point, I think his Giants career is essentially done.

Two thoughts on Perez: first, he frames the plate very nicely. I can see why Giant pitchers like throwing to him. IMHO, he stole a couple of strikeouts today. Second, as bad as Robert Perez has looked at the plate, Bart looks much worse. Perez has caught both games. Today, he struck out three times in four ABs and is 1 for 6 with four strikeouts across the two games. While Perez struck out 8 times in 23 ABs in the spring, Bart struck out 11 times in 28 ABs.  Ugh.

Giants have struck out 29 times in two games...and hit  two home runs and three doubles. Crawford hit an HR and double today -- he went 3 for 5 -- and Yastrzemski hit two doubles. Cobb pitched well, gave up an unearned run on his own throwing error (which would have gotten him out of the inning). It was the Giants' only error in the first two games. Junis, Rogers and Doval each gave up a run. Doval walked two and gave up two hits. Yikes...he couldn't locate either his fastball or his slider.

Yankees tomorrow. Ross Stripling vs. Jhony Brito. No sign of Slater. Piscotty asked for his release and is currently a free agent. Tristan Beck was still on the 40 man roster as of yesterday.
