FWIW while I'm a Stanford sports fan, I don't think Stanford should admit someone just because a person can bounce a basketball and the coach thinks that person will help the team. The student/athlete should be admitted partly for their athletic accomplishments but more so because they can benefit academically from a Stanford education.
One last thought. A student who graduates with a four year degree and applies to another school for a masters is to me not a "transfer student". I think a grad student should be a different category than an undergrad transfer.
Wisconsin's last game was Mar 2, she announced entering the portal on April 3 so she might (or might not) have applied to transfer with the regular deadline.
and at least way back in time when I transferred in admit notifications were rolling, I was notified I was admitted in mid-August, not sure if that's currently the case or not.
Several of the football transfers appear to have gotten expedited decisions on their admission given the timing of entering the portal and announcements they were admitted although the transfer site does say
Quote:Stanford reserves the right to evaluate an application and render a final decision even if all pieces of the application have not been received.
so maybe you just need to have started an application by Mar 15 and longer lead time items (like the two required recommendations) can follow
