I wonder if playing time refers to expected playing time for last year and this upcoming year: perhaps expectation was Brink slides to 4 so Betts at 5 but Brink wasn’t hitting mid range and 3 point shots so that did not work out — which shut down the deal.

I think Brink’s mid range by the end of the year was pretty good.  The full context is that you had two All-Americans (Brink and Jones) who had recently led the team to a national championship two years ago.  Both were definitely going to see a lot of playing time.  However, both did not shoot the ball well from 3 last year.   So adding another non 3 point shooting post to Brink and Jones would have made the offensive spacing terrible.  I was still open to seeing it because our offense even with that spacing wasn’t great.  But next year with no Jones would have been very different.  Brink could have flourished at the 4 with Betts at the 5.   But now Betts will have to compete against Bessoir, Dugalic, Sontag, Iwuala and Muse for playing time. I bet a couple of those players transfer next year.

Or transfer this season. The portal is still open as far as I know. Dugalic didn’t want to play behind Sabally and Prince at Oregon but you think she will play behind Bessoir, Betts, Sontag, etc? I am thinking “nope” unless the Nil money is really good.

Pre-injury, Dugalic was as good as the Oregon Freshman post this year. Post-injury and under Cori’s “better you, better me” mind control BS for two years, who knows.
